With daily trading volumes now reaching billions of US Dollars, we are committed to improving our clients trading experience. Consequently, to handle the demands of increasing trade volume and to advance the quality of execution, we are happy to announce the introduction of two new account types - Micro and Classic.

The introduction of Micro and Classic Accounts, managed on two dedicated servers is aimed at improving trade execution whilst providing clients with the most suitable trading environment according to their trading style.
Our current Live Account holders will be fairly separated into Micro or Classic groups depending on their trading style, trade frequency and trade volume.

Our clients will be able to change their account type at any time until the split between Micro and Classic Accounts becomes effective on the 21st of March 2009, by referring to the Validate Your Account Type (https://my.alpari.co.uk/en/changeacctype/) page.

The new account types will come into effect on Saturday 21 March 2009, and will supplement the free Demo Account as follows:

MICRO ACCOUNTS
Micro accounts are designed to accommodate traders who are new to the Forex market and service clients who are trading relatively small volumes. Demo Accounts will never be able to simulate the psychology behind risk and the fear of making a loss; this is where Micro accounts are effective because they help to introduce the Forex market to novice clients without exposing them to excessive risks, as trade size is limited.

CLASSIC ACCOUNTS
Classic accounts are designed to accommodate experienced retail traders as well as professional traders, as there is no maximum trade size, no maximum open position and a minimum trade size of 0.1 lot, while the trade size increment remains flexible at 0.01 lots.

All the usual benefits of trading with Alpari (UK) such as tight spreads, high leverage, safety of customer funds as well as 5% credit bonuses* on all new accounts and deposits remain identical for all account types.

You can open more than one account, so it's no problem to have one of each.

I accept that not everyone will agree with the need for these changes, but we are making them in order to improve your trading experience with Alpari.

as i already say in another thread I am not happy with this limits.
If i have some EA running that needs to open an 2.20-> order it will messing up the strategy. Also EA + manual trading and have more than 2 orders a time will blocking me to open more trades and may limit profitability of trading. You may make a more reasonable limit at 5 lots.

If i have a Micro account and wish to trade size 8 lot,you mean i should start the process of opening a new account and make the necessary deposit for classic before i can now trade the 8 lot?Otherwise, hope we can instantly tranfer enough fund from micro to the classic i.e sort of an instant upgrade?

The new account types come into effect on Saturday 21 March 2009 - which is why you can no longer choose.
If you have not selected your preference then we have taken that decision for you.

I've chosen "Classic" account type and I want to know that for example can I trade 0.11 or 0.23 lot size as you said Minimum trade size is 0.1 lot and Trade size increment is 0.01 lot. I try it with strategy tester and it doesn't accept 0.11 or 0.23 lots. It only open 0.10 or 0.20 or 0.30 or ...
Thanks.

I have channeled my complaint to support@alpari.co.uk and for 3 hours now no response from them. Please what is really going on?I ought to have made some trades by now.The idea of keeping your clients in the dark about his account is just not fair.I am still waiting for reply from any reasonable person left in Alpari UK

It's possible that your account is a classic - even though Alpari-Micro shows in your list of server options - please follow the directions on our website if you have not already done so.

We are working as hard as we can - however we need you to be as patient as possible. We accept that this is inconvenient for you but we are trying to deal with these issues as quickly as possible.

Some customers are also in the habit of sending us ten emails when one would do - which gives us ten times more emails to sift through, lengthening the process unnecessarily for everyone.
